Freddie Towe is mixed media artist who has been making work for three decades. She has produced assemblages, oil paintings, sculptures, ceramics, silk screens, collages, films and videos.  Until recently Freddie was based in Toronto, and has shown her work in solo and group shows in Galleries such as Paul Petro Contemporary, Canadian Fine Arts, Engine, Propeller and Gallery 1313. She started working in video and film in the 1980s and later moved onto sculpture and assemblage. She began her studies in painting and sculpture in 2000 at The Art Centre at Central Technical School and continued privately with Michael Gerry for three more years. In 2015, Towe moved to the Bancroft area and set up her studio. She shows her work at A Place For the Arts and Bridge Street.

“My work often speaks to my need for connection and of what can be discarded or over looked. I work in this metaphor to find connection.  The work contains figures, architecture, interiors, exteriors, urban, rural and extra-terrestrial landscapes central to my imagination. It talks about how lives can seem random, serendipitous, fitting together in only place and time.”
